BIOGRAPHY ENGLISH Francesco Claudio "Xan" Marai, aka Hunterwolf is an Italian musician, dj and composer. He was born on February 17, 1988. Passionate about music from an early age he started playing the piano when he was 4 years old and one year later he began taking lessons regularly. Shortly after he composes his first simple melodies (many of them created before the lessons), and he plays them to small essays organized by the school. Because of his musical talent he will be the music teacher's pupil until 11 years old, when he met the new teacher of flute (an instrument with which he has never been familiar). They will not have a great relationship and so he decide to follow its own path by himself. He developed a passion for electronic music and rock music (he had always shown interest in progressive music, trance music, and heavy metal, genres popular to himself thanks to his parents, who had a record store). He runs a more experimental sound, sophisticated and eclectic, until he discovers the hardcore music that fascinates him immediately. However, he discovers the passion for deejaing long after he created many songs (mostly techno, trance, goa, tekno, progressive, electrofunk) and having played in several underground rock bands as keyboardist and singer (mostly in a melodic death metal band called Hatereapers well as working with a punk and new wave one called Mastermind). Regiamania staff discovered him at the age of 17, and then he plays for the first time in a disco: Dorian Gray @ Adrenaline - Reggio Emilia (14/01/06) - "The Prophet Party". Since then he continues to play Hardcore at many events, and soon in some of the most important events of this genre (Dorian Gray, Masters of Hardcore, We Love Hard, E-Mission, Evolution Planet, Il Fuoriorario, Shock!, Explosion, In*To*Nation and others). Music is the purest implementation of feelings. Hunterwolf style has always been characterized by experimentation and the fusion of several genres, his particularly dark vocals are often produced by himself and his tracks look "expressionistic", because a song must be able to convey a feeling and an emotion, not necessarily through the use of words but specially through the use of sounds. His style becomes ever more experimental and eclectic, to the almost total inability to be scored with a precise genre: the main influences are hardcore, IDM, industrial, metal, blues, celtic music and classical music. Despite its unusual music always manages to please the audience for which it must perform: see real hits as "Gabba Power" (2006), and sometimes getting the approval of international hardcore's Big ones with tracks like "Look Into These Eyes" (2008). Towards the end of 2009 he can set his style in a mixture of extreme rock and electronics, finally abandoning the categories of music genres into something more complete and mature. After that Hunterwolf decides to create his musical project "Paranoiax" and in 2010 he released his first album, which comes as an interlude between the past and the future: it still has songs categorized in a genre, even if with many influences from different styles. These are nine songs composed between 2006 and 2009, including "Industrialization" (2006), the title track of the collection, one of the first frenchcore songs presenting a melodic part. Appassionato di musica sin dalla più tenera età inizia a suonare il pianoforte all'età di 4 anni ed all'età di 5 inizia a prendere lezioni regolarmente. Poco dopo compone le sue prime semplici melodie (molte delle quali ideate già prima dei corsi), e le suona ai piccoli saggi organizzati dalla scuola. Per questa sua predisposizione musicale sarà il pupillo del maestro fino alle scuole medie: con il professore di flauto dolce (strumento con il quale non ha mai avuto molta dimestichezza) non avrà un grande rapporto e deciderà così di seguire il proprio cammino da autodidatta. Si appassiona alla musica elettronica e rock (da sempre aveva dimostrato interesse per la musica progressive, la musica trance ed il metal, generi conosciuti grazie ai vinili dei suoi genitori, che ai tempi avevano un negozio di dischi). Percorre un sound sempre più sperimentale, ricercato ed eclettico fino all'Hardcore, musica che subito lo affascina. Tuttavia scopre la passione per il deejaing molto dopo aver creato molti brani (soprattutto techno, trance, goa, tekno, progressive, electrofunk) ed aver suonato in alcuni gruppi rock underground come tastierista e cantante (principalmente in un gruppo melodic death metal chiamato Hatereapers oltre che aver collaborato con un gruppo punk e new wave chiamato Mastermind). Viene scoperto dallo staff Regiamania all'età di 17 anni e a quell'età suona per la prima volta in discoteca: Dorian Gray @ Adrenaline - Reggio Emilia (14/01/06) - "The Prophet Party". Da allora continua a suonare Hardcore presso molti eventi, e ben presto in alcuni tra gli eventi più importanti del genere (Dorian Gray, Masters of Hardcore, We Love Hard, E-Mission, Evolution Planet, Il Fuoriorario, Shock!, Explosion, In*To*Nation ed altri). La musica è la pura trasposizione dei sentimenti. Lo stile di Hunterwolf, è da sempre caratterizzato dalla sperimentazione e dalla fusione di più generi, dai vocal spesso autoprodotti particolarmente ermetici, e dall'aspetto "espressionistico" dei brani, una traccia deve saper trasmettere una sensazione, un'emozione particolare non necessariamente attraverso l’uso delle parole ma soprattutto attraverso l’uso dei suoni. Il suo stile col tempo si fa sempre più sperimentale ed eclettico, fino alla quasi totale incapacità di essere catalogato con un genere preciso: le principali influenze sono l’hardcore, l’IDM, l’industrial, il metal, il blues, la musica celtica e la musica classica. Nonostante la sua musica atipica riesce sempre ad accontentare il pubblico per il quale deve esibirsi: si vedano veri e propri tormentoni come "Gabba Power" (2006), e talvolta ottenendo con tracce come "Look into These Eyes" (2008) anche l'approvazione dei veri Grandi dell'hardcore internazionale. Verso la fine del 2009 riesce a fissare il suo stile in una mescolanza di rock estremo ed elettronica, abbandonando definitivamente le categorie dei generi musicali verso qualcosa di più completo e maturo. Hunterwolf decide quindi di creare il suo progetto musicale "Paranoiax", e nel 2010 rilascia il suo primo album, che si presenta come un intermezzo tra il passato ed il futuro: esso presenta ancora tracce catalogabili in un genere musicale, anche se con molte influenze da svariati stili. Si tratta di nove brani composti tra il 2006 ed il 2009, tra i quali "Industrialization" (2006), brano che da il titolo alla raccolta, uno dei primi brani frenchcore a presentare una parte melodica. |
